Apple iPhone has long been targeted for its smaller sized battery inside the chassis and iPhone 7 is no different. The iPhone 7 comes with almost the same sized battery that iPhone 6s was shipped with. Now a new report from “Which?”, a consumer testing organisation, has added further fuel to the fire. Which? conducted a battery life test of all the current flagship smartphones from various manufacturers including Apple’s iPhone 7. The results from the tests conducted by the organisation that is known for its accurate scientific tests reveal that when it comes to the battery life, Apple’s iPhone 7 is not as good as some of Android flagships such as Galaxy S7, LG G5, and HTC 10.
The organisation conducted the battery life tests using a phone network simulator to ensures that the signal strength remains same while testing different smartphones. In the talk-time test that was conducted over a 3G network, Apple’s iPhone 7 could only manage to last 712 minutes. On the other hand, Android flagships such as HTC 10 lasted for whopping 1859 minutes, while the Galaxy S7 and the LG G5’s batteries managed to survive 1492 minutes and 1579 minutes respectively.
In a web browsing test over a 3G network, the result was different, but the difference was not that big enough this time around. The battery in this test for HTC 10, Galaxy S7, and LG G5 lasted 790, 677, and 640 minutes respectively. The iPhone 7, in this test, lasted for 615 minutes.
While the iPhone 7 could not show better battery time results as compared to its Android counterparts, it’s worth noting that there’s only 1960mAh capacity battery powering a 4.7-inch display. On the other hand, the Android flagships carry huge sized battery inside their body. It is commendable to see how iPhone 7 manage to close the gap with the Android flagships in the browsing over 3G test.
There is a greater possibility that Apple iPhone 7 Plus that comes with a larger battery can easily beat Android flagships in similar battery life tests.
Do you have an iPhone 7? Are you happy with the battery time it provides you during its day to day usage?
