The embattled South Korean electronics giant has officially halted production of its Galaxy Note 7 phone, Yonhap News Agency is reporting. An anonymous Samsung official said that the halt was done in cooperation with safety regulators from South Korea, China and the United States.
In September, Samsung issued a global recall of its Note 7 device after a battery flaw caused dozens of phones to explode. Reports began to circulate in the past week that the replacement devices were also faulty, with three incidents of the new Note 7 phones exploding.
Samsung did not immediately respond to request for comment.
